Company Introduction
KARELIA BERRIES LLC was established in the summer of 2003 as the part of Samokhvalovs family owned business since 1991. At the present time the organic food industry is one of the most rapidly developing industries.
Wild berries and mushrooms are the priceless natural resources of the Karelian region. For centuries, the inhabitants of Karelia have been collecting blueberries, cranberries, lingonberries and cloudberries which are of the highest ecological quality because they grow in the region without pollution.
The company was established with the ambition to offer unique bio-products to both local russian and international markets. It is placed in the center of growing of wild berries, especially lingonberry (the best crops in the World). The region is also famous for other different wild berries (blueberry, cloudberry, cranberry and etc.).
The products have a guarantee of origin from clean natural environments, excellent nutritious qualities and valuable health properties.In 2006 we have finished construction and started the processing plant in Kostomuksha with the capacity (storage) 3200 tones of wild berries and mushrooms. It is supplied with all the necessary equipment for collecting, loading and unloading equipment, transport and quality freezing (IQF) and cleaning & sorting.
The newest freezers are installed in all the freezing facilities of the plant. They are made in Germany and serviced by the company’s specialists.
We have already bought and launched the new equipment for quality cleaning and packaging of berries, made by CabinPlant (Denmark). We have also bought the new equipment for packaging of cleaned berries and mushrooms in costumer packs of 200-800g each.
Since 2007 Karelia Berries is Official supplier of Blueberries to DANONE Group (www.danone.com). We are the one who is certified with social and quality audit held by Danone 3-4 times a year. We are proud to guarantee the Quality that almost no one can supply to the biggest milk producer in Europe.
Almost 3 years we are the partner and main berries supplier of MIRATORG (www.miratorg.ru) – one of the biggest distributor of frozen products in Russia. We supply electronically sorted berries for the famous in Russia brand of berries and vegetables – Vitamin (R).
Since 2008 such companies as ZENTIS and SCWARTAU, which produce pure and jams for half of European market – are our clients.
Also the building of a former brewery was bought out into the property of the company in 2004. The building is situated in Kostomuksha and its space is 1500m2. There we are planning to organize production of fresh juices according to straight pressing technology, drinks and fruit drinks from wild and garden berries and fruits. At the present time we are installing the already bought equipment of the complete production line
